The bacon gives this stew a beautiful depth of flavor, and the crushed tomatoes melding with the chicken broth to lightly poach the seafood produces a lovely aroma. It is easy to prepare and a comfort meal at its finest.

Steps

1
Done

In a saucepan, sauté shallots, bacon, and garlic for 7 to 10 minutes, until the bacon is crisp.

2
Done

Pour in the wine or a splash of the chicken broth, and deglaze the pan, scrape the bottom to remove browned bits.

3
Done

Add the broth and tomatoes to the pot, and cook for another 5 minutes.

4
Done

Gently add the scallops and fish, and cook for 5 to 10 minutes more, or until all the seafood is opaque and cooked through.

5
Done

Season with salt and pepper, and serve.
